Maria joined Pender Ventures in 2018 as its founding partner. Previously, she spent 23 years investing in and operating emerging growth companies, with a focus on technology businesses. Her investment experience includes more than a decade at GrowthWorks, previously one of Canada’s largest venture firms, where she took a number of enterprise software and health tech startups from investment to exit and served on a variety of boards. Her operational experience includes stints at Terramera and ExtendMedia. Maria started her career in M&A at Deutsche Bank.

Maria’s current board roles include Clarius Mobile Health, Jane Software, DistillerSR, Traction Rec, Traction Complete and Librestream. She is also on the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation Board and Canadian Venture Capital Association & Private Equity Association Board (CVCA). She holds a BBA from Simon Fraser University, is a CFA charter holder and an active member and a past President of CFA Society Vancouver.
